H BOX
January 21 – 31 2010

H BOX screens daily Thursday, January 21-Sunday, January 31.

The H BOX program was initiated in 2006, directed by Benjamin Weil. Each year, four artists are invited to produce a single-channel work in video. A changing selection of eight to ten of those short films have been presented since the late fall of 2007 in a roaming screening hall designed by Paris-based architect/artist Didier Fiuza Faustino. Having launched at Centre Pompidou (Paris), H BOX has since traveled to such European museums as MUSAC, in Spain; MUDAM, in Luxembourg; and the Tate Modern in London; before landing in Yokohama for the 2008 Triennale, and the United States in 2009 (Orange County Museum and Cinema Arts Festival Houston). For the first time, all sixteen H BOX films that have been produced to date (four new works are commissioned each year) will be presented daily at the New Museum. There will be a short break at the middle of each screening session.

Participating artists: Alice Anderson (France/UK); Rosa Barba (Italy/Germany); Yael Bartana (Israel); Matthew Buckingham (US); Sebastian Diaz-Morales (Argentina/Holland); Cliff Evans (US); Kota Ezawa (Germany/US); Cao Fei (China); Dora Garcia (Spain/Belgium); Ali Kazma (Turkey); Judit Kurtág (Hungary/France/Germany); Mark Lewis (Canada/ UK); Valérie Mréjen (France); Sharyar Nashat (Switzerland/Germany); Julika Rudelius (Germany/US); Su-Mei Tse (Luxembourg).
