Building on the Museum as Hub model, the 2012 New Museum Triennial: “The Ungovernables” evolved out of lengthy consultations with an international network of curators, organizations, and artists, including the Museum as Hub partners. Their contributions inspired the Art Spaces Directory, a resource guide to over four hundred independent art spaces in ninety-six countries around the world. The Directory took the form of a printed guidebook, copublished by the New Museum and ArtAsiaPacific in 2012, and an interactive website, which was online from 2012 through 2015 and allowed users to zoom in on independent arts organizations in search of more information on their missions, programming, and locations. The Digital Archive features a PDF of the original Art Spaces Directory book and documentation of the website.
