“Rosemarie Trockel: A Cosmos” stages a dialogue between an artist and her muses. This conversation between exhibition curator Lynne Cooke and art historian Suzanne Hudson takes the exhibition’s format as a model to explore Trockel’s multifaceted oeuvre and expand on its dynamic intersections with artworks from other times and places.

Lynne Cooke is Andrew Mellon Professor, CASVA, National Gallery of Art, Washington, DC. Until 2012, she was Chief Curator and Deputy Director of the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, Madrid. From 1991 through 2008 she was Curator at Dia Art Foundation, New York, where she curated “Rosemarie Trockel: Spleen” (2002). Among her numerous publications are recent essays on the works of Francis Alÿs, Zoe Leonard, Agnes Martin, Blinky Palermo, and Dorit Margreiter.

Suzanne Hudson is Assistant Professor of Modern and Contemporary Art at the University of Southern California. Her writing has appeared in Parkett, Flash Art, Art Journal, and October, and she is a regular contributor to Artforum. She is the author of Robert Ryman: Used Paint (MIT Press, 2009), and is currently at work on a manuscript on art and spirituality in 1960s America.
