Trisha Brown: Dance and Art in Dialogue, 1961 - 2001. 2002; 340 pages; paperback w/ dustjacket; 87 b/w, 109 color images. “This book is intended as a collective portrait of the dancer, choreographer, and woman, Trisha Brown, and it has been realized through a variety of approaches…the essayists: Maurice Berger, Guillame Bernardi, Marianne Goldberg, Deborah Jowitt, Klaus Kertess, and Laurence Louppe. Working from different perspectives, all of these writers, either directly or indirectly, have been "collaborators” with Trisha Brown over the years in the degree to which their scholarship has shared her passions and pursuits. In addition, two of Trisha Brown’s peers, Steve Paxton and Yvonne Rainer, have provided candid and personal reminiscences of the intense creative atmosphere out of wihch her work emerged. Trisha Brown has also joined this discussion by contributing an essay that knits together her collaborative experiences through the years.“ -Hendel Teicher, Editor. Contributions include: Trisha Brown, U.S. Dance, and Visual Arts: Composing Structure by Marianne Goldberg, A Fond Memoir with Sundry Reflections on a Friend and Her Art by Yvonne Rainer, Brown in the New Body by Steve Paxton, Brownian Motion and France: Cartography of an Impression by Laurence Louppe, Story About No Story by Klaus Kertess, "The Voice is a Muscle”: Trisha Brown and Opera by Guillame Bernardi, Redefining Virtuosity: Trisha Brown in the Eighties and Nineties by Deborah Jowitt, Bird/Woman/Flower/Daredevil: Trisha Brown by Hendel Teicher, Essays by artist: Skymap / Accumulation with Talking Plus Watermotor / Locus, How to Make a Modern Dance When The Sky’s The Limit.
