Blasted Allegories is a collection of writings by artists from the past ten years, a mixture of voices and styles, all addressing the issues of image, culture, and identity. In these writings, we are offered a critical investigation of postmodern culture, but without the distancing effects of traditional art criticism. Relinquishing the modernist notion of the critical text as an objective and supreme judgment, these writers explore more open forms of writing which involve a complex wedding of autobiography, observation, and critique.
