Whose History Is It Anyway?
April 30 – May 31 1998
Visible Knowledge, the Museum’s interdisciplinary high school arts education program, brings together students, artists and educators to collaborate on projects both in and out of the classroom. Central to the program is the integration of artmaking into existing curricula including American history, ethnography and social studies. “Whose History Is It Anyway?” featured interactive artworks, installations and public programs that grew out of the semester’s collaboration. Participating artists included Lynne Yamamoto, Aresh Jarudi, and Judite Dos Santos, each of whom works with students at the Robert F. Wagner Institute for Arts and Technology in Long Island City, Queens. Whose history is it anyway? was organized by Claudia Hernandez, Associate Educator, and Gregory Sholette.
