In March 2008, the New Museum launched gclass.org
as an extension of its curriculum development program G:Class (Global Classroom), which engaged high school students with global issues through the perspectives of contemporary art, architecture and design. An interactive platform, gclass.org provided access to the Museum’s lesson plans, digital archives, curriculum materials, and information on the New Museum’s exhibitions and programs, encouraging high school teachers and students to use the New Museum as a tool for learning. The web site also engaged young people by showcasing their work and writing, and by providing students with the opportunity to explore contemporary art on their own outside the classroom.
gclass.org continued to be an active resource from 2008 – 2015. The lesson plans on gclass.org were captured with Rhizome’s Webrecorder tool in 2018, and can be accessed through the gclass.org collection on webrecorder.io
