Janis Lipzin is interested in the intrinsic properties of light, and her recent intensive studies in physics and electronics have certainly altered her way of seeing and creating. Her small color photographs and films result from manipulation and exaggeration of light in a multitude of situations, distortions between herself, the camera, and the situation. The New Museum’s presentation of Lipzin's The Bladderwort Document (1978) was the first time the film was screened in New York.
