During the 1980s the term “multiculturalism” became associated with an ideal of social relations. This panel will raise questions about the ways in which multiculturalism has manifest itself in the arts. How does the notion of multiculturalism embrace certain populations or marginalize them? How well are the interests of historically marginalized groups really being served?
