The Lingua Burma and Gothic Burmese Dinner
April 9 1998
Artist Elaine Tin Nyo presented a slide lecture entitled The Lingua Burma. Drawing from chance family encounters, Tin Nyo discussed how family stories have suggested an alternative medieval history in which the “Burmagoths” of Burma occupied Europe throughout the Middle Ages, creating a revisionist family and world history.
Following the performance/lecture at the New Museum, attendees enjoyed some “medieval” Burmese home cooking prepared by Tin Nyo and swapped family stories at Fado Restaurant.
