Super-Ficial: The Surfaces of Architecture in a Digital Age
January 31 – April 6 2003
Super-ficial explores the impact of digital technologies on architectural practice, presenting recent works by architects who explore the notion of surface—on a building façade, for example, or as an abstract exercise in texture and light. Projects by dbox, Jurgen Mayer H., Michael Silver, and Peter Testa Architect will be on display, utilizing a range of media, from digital animations to drawings and models. Expanding upon theoretical and practical understandings of ephemerality, materiality, decoration and interactivity, the exhibition demonstrates that architectural surface is considerably more complicated that it appears.
Organized by Johanna Burton and Anne Ellegood.
