Roles in Archive: New Museum Curator, Artist, Performer, Speaker
Brooklyn-based artist Chelsea Knight combines documentary and fiction to examine performances of power and the way the body is constituted by language. Knight received her BA from Oberlin College and her MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She has completed residencies at the Whitney Independent Study Program (2010) and the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture (2008), and was a 2007 Fulbright Fellow in Italy. Solo exhibitions include: Saint Louis Art Museum, Brooklyn Museum, Aspect Ratio Gallery, Chicago, and Abrons Art Center, New York. Knight has exhibited and screened her work in group shows at Palais de Tokyo, Paris, CCS Bard Hessel Museum, Young Artists’ Biennial, Bucharest, 10th Annual Istanbul Biennial, and The Kitchen, NY.
